angua9: Into the West, part 2

When we last left our faithful wahleeconner (me), she was just getting in her Shiny Silver Minivan (somewhat coated with Colorado dust) to dare and hazard all to attend the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The next stirring chapter of her life was at hand! ( Read more... )

wahlee_98: Wahleecon: Wednesday

Unfortunately, since I've been taking FOREVER for me to write this up, my Wahleecon memories will have to be broken up into smaller chunks than I originally planned. It's not as funny as angua9's, but it's what you get. :P

Overall, Wahleecon was absolute enjoyment punctuated by moments of panic and undercut by constant worry. I spent almost 10 months planning it, and all these people had come hundreds and thousands of miles, some at great personal sacrifice and expense, to see a movie that they could just as easily have seen in their home town. I knew I was having a good time, but I was so scared that everyone else was just hating it, but were too polite to say. Anyway, here's the event from my PoV:

angua9: Into the West

wahlee_98 called, and we answered. Weary pilgrims all, footsore and battered from our life's battles, we made our way to wahleecon and there found hope... renewal... inspiration... cake!

And there too, we found fellowship and laughter and acceptance. This is our story.

Okay, this is MY story, but some of you are in it too. Also, pictures. ( Read more... )

I've finally managed to put together a recap of my wahleecon experience. I think the length justifies how long it took me to write it. This is quite long and has some pretty good sized pictures. Be forewarned. :-)

Cut so you don't come after me with torches and pitchforksCollapse )

purplerebecca: Wahlee Con Report, Shortish, with Art :)

Hi all, I was only there for a short time (for the Mayan and the Matinee), but here's my little write up, and review and stuff. ^_^ It was so great to meet everyone that I got a chance to, and it was very fun! ^_^

Here's the art that I started sketching while sitting in line to see the Matinee! I finished them later, of course.

wahlee_98: Just so you know. . .

I've changed the settings on this LJ to "unmoderated", which means you can all post your memories without having to get the approval of either me or redwood7.

At least the beginning of my own memories will be posted later today. :P

sannalim: Wahleecon Report

(crossposted to sannalim)

Wahleecon was an absolute blast! It was great fun to meet up with wahlee_98, susy_gwen, fellytone_k8, lilac_bearry, kelleypen, and siriusnutter again. It was a real delight, furthermore, to meet redwood7, hymnia, angua9, Elucreh and Eluthera, Kelley and Chris, gaidin_prime and Dobby, and so many others.

It started with a line party...Collapse )

Wahleecon was absolutely fantastic. I hope that I will get to see all of the wonderful new friends I have made because of Wahleecon again someday.

connielane: There and Back Again

Crossposted in connielane.

Whenever I do something really big and have a really great time, I always do a huge write-up about it. I've done this since way before I had an LJ, for as long as I can remember. It's my way of keeping the experience, since pictures so rarely tell much of the story at all (as you will see when I post those pretty soon).

So, here is my exhaustive report of my experience at wahleecon. Warning - it took up nine pages (single space) on a Word file. I'm posting in chapter format to break it up a bit and lj-cutting to save my poor flist. I'm also beginning with a brief explanation of the event, for non-fandom people who read my journal. Here goes.

What in the world is Wahleecon?Collapse )

How To Tell If You're a Harry Potter Fan...Collapse )

I think it would be rather exciting to meet a pirate.Collapse )

You tell those spiders, Ron.Collapse )

Featherboas gave him the willies.Collapse )

Yes, Harry is the hero, but...Collapse )

Have you learned nothing of the stubbornness of dwarves?Collapse )

God Be With You Till We Meet AgainCollapse )

It was all great fun, and I can honestly say that nothing was missing from the experience. As I said above, the best part was getting to meet all these people and talking fandom (and feeding addictions :P). Emily, you are a wonderful hostess and an incredible person. Thank you (and your family) for opening your home to us and for being so kind and attentive. And thanks to the other locals for being so great and for driving us everywhere.
